COUNTA and COUNTIF

The COUNTA(range) function will tally up the number of pieces of text data in a desired range

Go to cell B18 and apply the function

NOTES
  • Only cells that contain data will be counted (Try deleting one of the "apples")

 COUNTIF

The COUNTIF(range, criteria) function will tally up the number of pieces that match the criteria

  • Criteria can be literal ("apples") but cell references (A21) are more flexible
  • Range can be defined by a range name (snacks)
